The Pittsburgh Penguins’ Stanley Cup champions film will go on sale July 26 to help fans re-live the moments from the team’s run to its fourth NHL title.
The NHL and Showtime showed hockey fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Penguins in the last two rounds of the playoffs. This DVD should provide a different and more Pittsburgh-centric view.
Said a release that provided details of the film:
The film will feature breathtaking highlights from both the regular season and postseason, behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with coach Mike Sullivan, the 6th American-born head coach in NHL history to guide a team to a Stanley Cup Championship; captain and Conn Smythe winner Sidney Crosby, his second time leading the Penguins to glory; Rookie sensation Matt Murray who capped his rise to postseason prominence with 18 saves in the Stanley Cup Final clinching Game 6; and superstars Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Pascal Dupuis, who after playing in 817 career games, had his career cut short by a series of health issues.
Check out the opening of “Stanley Cup Champions 2016: Pittsburgh Penguins” with a voiceover from Pascal Dupuis, who became a team symbol during their run.
The film also goes into some memorable moments for fans – such as the team’s three straight delay of game penalties against the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of the second-round of the playoffs. Pittsburgh ended up eliminating the Caps in overtime of that game.
